Clay & Wheel Thrown Pottery I

Learn the basics of wheel throwing and hand building, from clay prep to cleanup. For beginning students with little  experience. Previous students may repeat the class for hand building. Week 7 is glazing and finish work only. Materials fee $20, payable to the Community Arts Center.

Renew your energy for fall through the practice of revitalizing Qigong forms and a Yang-style short form of tai chi. Students  discover how to free energy, reduce stress, and build strength, balance, and stamina. Wear flexible, soft-soled shoes and loose clothing. Prior experience in tai chi not required.

Build on basic skills (required skills: wedge clay, center clay on a wheel, and throw a small pot). This class is for students looking to advance  skills on the wheel. This is the perfect class for you if you'd like the stretch and de-stress of yoga, but have trouble getting up from teh floor. Learn basic poses and stretches that will strengthen your m ind and body. Wear clothing for freedom of movement (no jeans). Please bring a yoga mat and a tension strap (neckties or bathrobe sashes work nicely).

Learn to create what you see, not what you know is there. In this class, Lara  teaches concepts and techniques of portrait painting with an emphasis on proportion and color. Using a live model and mirrors, she will help you  translate what you see to your artwork.

Basic Photography

Stained Glass II

Intermediate students will advance to more intricate work and will accurately cut, foil, and consistently produce a beaded solder line. Students will provide glass and materials (solder, flux, foil, patina, etc) for their project. Instructions will be given to produce a lantern or students may bring their own project.
