The Community Arts Center of Cambria County is proud to present its July exhibition of 2018, Multiplicity, an exhibition featuring 2D collections of multifaceted applied art mediums by an individual artist/teacher. Multiplicity will be hosted in the Goldhaber-Fend Fine Arts Center gallery showcasing a wide variety of Alexis Kovalovsky’s artistic skills through graphite drawing, charcoal drawings, colored pencil (which is her main medium), acrylic, watercolor, and photography. A free opening reception will be held Saturday, July 7th 1:00-3:00 P.M., including light refreshments. During the opening reception Alexis Kovalovsky will share about her diverse mediums in a gallery talk followed by a Q & A at 2:00 P.M.
Alexis Kovalovsky (Sobecky) grew up in Vinco, PA, and attended Central Cambria High School, where her love of art took root. She was top of her class at Slippery Rock University, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education and a minor in Art History. Currently, Alexis is an art teacher in the Pittsburgh and Butler areas. She participates locally at Potatofest, the New Germany Arts and Crafts Festival, and at the Community Arts Center’s Log House Arts Festival in the fall.
“Creating is an intimate process for me. The process is calming and rhythmic and requires my complete attention. When I create, it is for myself. Collectively, my artwork is a diary; my daily exploration of what is in my head and what is in my heart. Some are trivial and others are deep and romantic, but every single work is a part of me. They reflect my moods, my focus, and my fascinations. I try to replicate these in small, brief moments on paper. Each piece is a story, waiting to be read.”
Multiplicity will be on display from July 7th – 27th. The public is welcome to visit the Goldhaber-Fend Fine Arts Gallery, with free admission, from 10:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. weekdays and Saturdays from 10:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. A $5 donation is encouraged.
“Alexis is a very talented and diverse artist. She utilizes the true classic skills of her mediums, while putting her unique spin to each. Her style is very captivating with vibrant colors in paintings and extremely intricate detailed work for drawings.” -Angela R. Godin, Executive Director
