Glass fusing is the technique used to join glass pieces together by partly melting the glass at high temperature. The fusion process requires multiple pieces of glass, with heating commonly undertaken in an electric kiln.

CACCC Glass Studio,

March 2017
The Community Arts Center has been able to enhance our Stained Glass Division and start a new Glass Fusion division with a NEW GLASS KILN, thanks to the generosity of the Robert Waters Economic Development Fund through the Community Foundation of the Alleghenies. Pictured below, CACCC Education Coordinator Lida Hood, CACCC Executive Director Angela Godin, and President & Executive Director of the Community Foundation of the Alleghenies Mike Kane, celebrate the opening of the Glass Studio.  The Community Arts Center is now the only fully equipped Glass Studio in the region. The new kiln will provide the Glass Studio with infinite creative opportunities, like jewelry, ornaments, and tiles. The new Glass Studio resides in our former dark room, located on the second floor of the Golhaber-Fend fine arts building. To celebrate the new advancements, we are excited to offer workshops to explore the endless possibilities! Register for the Spring Glass Fusing Workshops by calling the Arts Center at 814-255-6515.
